Hurricane Sandy left thousands of people without power and homes. A&E employees, along with local Pennington high schoolers, volunteered to help set up and deliver gas generators to Staten Island families in need.

Power Your Home with an Emergency Backup Generator

After Sandy, we had an influx of clients looking to install emergency backup generators in their homes. Please contact us via our website or call us at 609-737-4425 if you are interested in installing an emergency backup power system in your home.

An emergency backup system with a transfer switch outlet will allow you to power your primary circuits such as heat, sump pump, well pump, refrigerator, lighting, or the T.V.

Installing an emergency backup system with a transfer switch is safer and more convenient than running multiple extension cords around your home. 

Unlike extension cords, a transfer switch system can run devices that are not connected to a cord such as heaters and well pumps. 

When your power returns, other appliances or lights that are not run through the emergency generator will turn on; thus alerting you to flip the transfer switch back to the normal position.

From now until June 2013, New Jersey's Home Performance with Energy Star(HPwES) program will give homeowners rebates of up to $5,000 and a 10 year no interest loan for qualifying home energy improvements. 

Make a New Year's Resolution this year to cut down on your energy bills! The first step to energy savings is filling out anenergy audit questionnaire.

Energy Audits with A&E Construction!

Now is the best time to make your home energy efficient and enhance the comfort of your living space while saving money with the generous incentives from the 2011 New Jersey Home Performance with Energy Star program (HpwES).

Listed below are the requirements and incentives for the 2011 HPwES Program.

Tier 1 Requirements:                                         

• Estimated total energy savings (TES) of at least 10% and less than 20%: Install air sealing and/or insulation, with the option of installing duct sealing and duct insulation measures.

           Incentives:

• $1,000 cash rebate, not to exceed 50% of cost of the measures used to calculate TES. No loan option available.

Tier 2 Requirements:                                         

•  Estimated TES of at least 20% and less than 25%:Install air sealing, insulation, HVAC, DHW and/or other eligible measures. (Measures NOT eligible are appliances, lighting, doors and windows)

           Incentives:

• $3,000 cash rebate, not to exceed 50% of cost of the measures used to calculate TES, 
  And 0% interest loan up to $10,000 available through Energy Finance Solutions (EFS).

Tier 3 Requirements:                                         

•  Estimated TES of at least 25% or greater: Install air sealing, insulation, HVAC, DHW and other eligible measures. (Measures NOT eligible are appliances, lighting, doors and windows)

           Incentives:

• $4,000 cash rebate, not to exceed 50% of cost of the measures used to calculate TES, 
  And 0% interest loan up to $10,000 available through Energy Finance Solutions (EFS).

Here's a potential savings example to consider with the HPwES program:

The Jones family has an A&E audit performed and audit information shows a potential energy savings of 25% or greater. The Jones family qualifies for a 50% cash rebate, up to $4,000* and a 0% interest loan from the NJHPwES program.

We recently began the construction of a pool house in Pennington, NJ.  The homeowners were looking to update their backyard, and we currently have the foundation poured and the framing went up.  Check out the pictures below to see the progress.

You can receive a Federal Tax Credit of up to $1500 for simple, and easy energy updates!  A&E Construction has emerged as a leader in energy updating, and our team can be there to assist in all of the following projects:

o   Windows and Doors:  Replacing either of these can significantly decrease energy bills, by strengthening the barriers between your house and the outside environment.

o   Insulation: Many houses have inadequate insulation that lets much of the outside air seep in.  Installing new insulation can in many cases lead to the greatest decrease in energy bills.

o   HVAC Systems: Whether it be your furnace, or air conditioner there are options to help improve the efficiency of your home.

o   Water Heaters: A significant amount of your energy bill is allocated to heating the water, however new technology has developed heaters with a considerable reduction in energy output.

o   Roofing: Replacing an outdated roof can help to alleviate the heat transferred from the sun, thus reducing cooling costs.

This program however only lasts until December 31, 2010!
